Miles new favorite words are “my” and “mine”. So when we go out shopping all I hear are things like “my cheerios”, “my ninja turtles”…you get the picture. It was really funny (and a little embarrassing) when he wanted to play with the bouncy balls at Target. He was screaming “My Balls” over and over as we went around the store. #thingskidssay

My mom knows Ive never been a fan of store bought cards. This year I decided to create a cartoon instead. Enjoy!

The idea is a very ancient concept called a Gift Economy. It is an idea based on mutual trust and gratitude. Read this inspiring story to learn more.  http://adrianhoppel.com/this-is-what-it-looks-like-when-you-realize-how-toxic-your-job-is-and-you-do-something-about-it/

The Rocket Summer, one of my favorite bands just released a Christmas EP. Consisting of three originals and a traditional cover, this is a nice addition to the holiday playlist. This song is Miles’ favorite. Enjoy!

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. ~Robert Brault

We started to build an igloo, but miles refused to keep his gloves on so we had to go inside because his hands were freezing.

Nelson Mandela

Former South African President and anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela has died from complications related to a recurring lung infection. He was 95.

Mandela was elected South Africa’s first black president by a near two-thirds margin in 1994, after spending 27 years in prison for his role as a leader in South Africa’s anti-apartheid movement. He served as president for five years, until retiring in 1999.

For his part in ending apartheid, Mandela was awarded the US Presidential Medal of Freedom and the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, among many others.

Nelson Mandela was truly an amazing man of love, peace and democracy… if only more leaders were like him the world we be a better place.
